Jesus - Finisher
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the
joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set
down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2-3 (KJV)
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith,
who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat
down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such
opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Hebrews 12:2-3 (NIV)
Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader
and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is
also its Finisher, [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of
obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and
ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2-3 (AMP)
Jesus is the Author of our faith, he is also the finisher. Jesus is actively
at work to bring your faith to maturity and perfection. We start the faith life
as newborn babes, needing the milk of the Word of God. As we grow, develop, and
mature, we need the meat of the Word.
We're not alone in your faith life. We're not without help, without an
example, without experience. We have the Holy Spirit to teach us, lead us into
all truth, to give counsel and comfort. We have Jesus to develop, mature,
perfect, and finish our faith. We're living in class.
With Jesus' help, we can finish the race. We can achieve the goal of our
faith. We can do everything through him who gives us strength! Phil. 4:13.
Jesus lived by faith. He endured the cross by faith. He now sits at the right
hand of God - the position of power and authority in the heavens. From that
position, he has the ability to perfect our faith.
We fix our eyes on Jesus, who's developing, perfecting, and finishing our
faith. Despite outward appearances, circumstances, and situations, Jesus is at
work. He's bringing our faith to a finish - a victorious finish.
