Add to Your Faith

...make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:5-9 (NIV)

Here's the key to your faith producing results: keep adding to your faith! Don't stop with believing. We already learned that we have need of patience. Then we add Godly virtues, and our faith produces results.

How To Add?

How to we add to our faith? How to we add godliness? Well, let's compare these virtues, or qualities, with the Fruit of the Holy Spirit, and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

We can add Godly virtues by yielding to the Holy Spirit - the Spirit of the Holy God. God is Holy. The Spirit gives us Godly virtues, or character qualities - the Fruit of the Spirit. The Spirit also gives us Godly ability - the Gifts of the Spirit.

When you're exercising your faith, determine to add Godly virtues. Look for the opportunity to exhibit kindness. Surely you'll find many people who need kindness. Love your neighbor. Ask the Holy Spirit to manifest the word of knowledge and the word of wisdom in your life. Ask for the gift of faith.

Continue in love, kindness, goodness. Persevere. You'll be so taken in Godly acts, that joy and peace will flow from you. Your faith will be energized. Your faith will be effective and productive. You'll be living in the Faith Class!
